Thoughts of a Colored Man made its World Premiere at Syracuse Stage during their 2019-2020 season and transferred to Baltimore Center Stage to finish its regional run.

On October 13, 2021 Thoughts of a Colored Man made its Broadway debut as one of seven plays by Black playwrights during the Fall 2021 season.

Keenan’s play Thoughts of a Colored Man is Broadway’s first show to have black men in the positions of lead actor, playwright, director and lead producer. This landmark piece is a trailblazer for diversity in the Broadway community as it is the first and only production of its kind to examine, expand, and center stage the diverse livelihoods of black men in America with such vulnerability and vibrancy.
