Theatre Management... NEW FOR 2007-2008!
The mission of the KCACTF Region IV Theatre Management Program is:
- To showcase the theatre management work being done by undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the region.
- To provide a networking opportunity for students in Theatre Management to learn from and with other students and industry professionals.
During the 2008 KCACTF Region IV Festival at Clemson University, the following programs will be offered to fulfill this mission.
- Career Opportunities in Theatre Management: This workshop will provide students with an overview of potential job opportunities in theatre management in both the not-for-profit and commercial industry. Presenter: TBA
- Managers’ Collaboration: Theatre Management students work together in a series of workshops to create a practical management plan for the one-acts and short plays presented at the Regional Festival or alternative projects as selected by the coordinators who will serve as mentors during the process.
- Poster Session: Students showing their practical work in display/exhibit format for feedback and Q&A. Details about display requirements coming soon. Please check back.
Winners from the Poster Session will be selected based on quality of work, presentation, ablity to articulate their work during the Q&A session, and other elements as decided by the judges.

As this is the first year for this program, some elements may change based on student suggestions/involvement. Additional opportunities may become available to interested parties.
REGION IV THEATRE MANAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP GUIDELINES
The Region IV National Theatre Management Fellow must successfully complete the following process:
1. A letter of nomination from a faculty member is REQUIRED to enter this fellowship. The letter of nomination must address the student theatre manager's effective:

Collaboration and communication with director, actors, designers, production staff and personnel management |
- |
Management of marketing, development, financial, or educational work (as assigned by the faculty member). Student may show work in one or multiple areas. |
- |
Use of resources and team building |
2. Approach Statement: A statement of the theatre management student's approach. Not to exceed one page.
3. A letter of application from the student theatre manager nominee, which includes why the student is interested in participating in this fellowship program and the ways in which they believe it may contribute to their growth as a theatre manager. Please also include contact information (email and phone) for the student.

4. At the regional festival, the student must manage (marketing, promotions, etc) an event. From the entries received, members of the Regional Selection Team will assign students to projects for the regional festival. Students will be notified of project assignments and responsibilities via email after Friday, December 7, 2007.
5. At the regional festival, the student will participate in a workshop and interview session with the theatre management respondent(s). See festival schedule for workshop time. Interview sessions will be scheduled at an orientation meeting on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The materials below should be brought with the student to the regional festival.
6. Process-Visual materials that serve to show:

7. Implementation-Visual materials should include:

All schedules and all prepared campaign plans (marketing, fundraising, etc) |

Samples of email or other correspondence to establish communication style of manager |

Any other materials used to accomplish job |
8. Documentation to include:

Playbill or program from the show. |
- |
Other print materials generated by the project |
- |
A copy of the Letter of Nomination, Approach Statement, and Letter of Application (see above). |
9. Presentation of visual materials: Most of the materials above should be incorporated into a 3-ring binder which serves as your portfolio for the project. Additional materials may be included in a separate binder, not to exceed 1", if necessary.

NOTE: To maintain each individual's privacy, DO NOT include any paperwork that might include cast/crew private information, financial data (you can list percentages of success when talking about ticket sales, seats, etc.
Examples: any lists with social security numbers, medical information forms or address & phone numbers, actual budget figures. |
