State Festival Information

In the interest of accessibility of all sorts, and in the spirit of inclusion that is the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the National Office of KCACTF finds it necessary to make the following clarifications:

Eligibility for entering a participating production in KCACTF is solely dependant on registration with the appropriate region and the Kennedy Center. Effective January 1, 2007, no college or university will be required to attend a State Festival for a production from their institution to be considered for invitation to the Regional Festival and subsequently, to the National Festival at the Kennedy Center.

No regional executive committee state nor any regional sub-committee of KCACTF, or affiliated state theatre organization, may impact access to the full range of KCACTF's programs by imposing the additional expense associated with the requirement of state festival participation (attendance and/or the presentation of a production) as de facto requirements for participation in KCACTF.

No college or university will be, in any way, penalized or barred from full consideration for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival if the institution chooses not to participate in or have their work showcased at a State Festival.

No college or university will be, in any way, looked upon more favorably for consideration for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival if the institution chooses to participate in or have their work showcased at a State Festival.

State Festival participation cannot be looked upon as a sign of "true" commitment to this organization and its goals.

It is further recommended that your region be made aware that participating entries of productions mounted between January and September of a calendar year are acceptable. If an entering institution has a plan in place for holding a high quality production over until the following February then these productions should be encouraged not discouraged (or disallowed.)
