Call for Regional Officers

Hello, Region 4,

It’s mid-August and most of us are starting our fall academic term. I hope you had a relaxing and productive summer!

As promised, below are a few opportunities that will be available to continue the region’s long tradition in celebrating our students’ hard and excellent work in the region. Three of the offices, Regional Vice Chair, Regional Vice Chair of National Playwriting Program, and Regional Vice Chair of Design, Technology and Management are offices that are vetted through the Region’s Executive Committee (made up of the current Region Chair, Immediate Past Region Chair, the Region Chairs of NPP and DTM, and the current Region Vice Chair) and the National Executive Committee.
The other regional coordinators listed are vetted through the Region’s Executive Committee.

Ron Keller (Chair of R4 Design, Technology and Management), Ray Paolino (Chair of R4 New Plays Projects) and I are currently starting our last year of our terms as officers of KCACTF Region 4. Jeff Green (Vice Chair of R4), Paul Favini (Vice Chair of R4 DTM) and David Moberg (Vice Chair of R4 NPP) will become move into their respective chair positions in April of 2012.

The deadline for all applications will be September 15, 2011. All application materials should be sent to me electronically (relman@westga.edu).

Region Offices:

Application materials for officers must consist of
· a cover letter, which should include the candidate’s willingness to serve the region, willingness to attend committee meetings, the candidate’s home institution’s support for the work that is entailed in the position;
· The candidate’s CV, which should include their expertise in the area for which they are applying;
· A letter of support from the candidate’s chair, dean or supervisor of record that states an understanding of the time commitment of the position.

Region Office positions:

Vice-Chair of Region 4
· 3 year term
· Will become Chair of the region (3 year term) after the term as Vice Chair is complete
· Assist in training the Irene Ryan Coordinator to run the Ryans at Festival.
· Attend the National Festival in April and perhaps one other regional festival if schedules and the budget permit
· Assist the Regional Chair in any other duties if schedules and time permit (this may include handling of the region’s finances, once the Ryan Coordinator is trained)

Vice-Chair Region 4 DTM:
· 3 year term
· Will become Chair of R4 DTM (3 year term) after the term as DTM Vice Chair is complete
· Assist the DTM Chair in organizing and planning for the regional festival
· May attend the National Festival in April and perhaps one other regional festival if schedules and regional budget permit

Vice-Chair Region 4 NPP:
· 3 year term
· Will become Chair of R4 NPP (3 year term) after the term as NPP Vice Chair is complete
· Assist the NPP Chair in organizing and planning for the regional festival
· May attend the National Festival in April and perhaps one other regional festival if schedules and regional budget permit

Region Coordinators:

— Irene Ryan Auditions Coordinator(s):

  • Plan and coordinate the regional auditions for festival
  • Maintain accurate records of the auditions
    Special note: Much thanks to Eddie Collins, who served as our Irene Ryan Coordinator last year. Eddie did tremendous work and we are very grateful to him! He is moving out of the region and we wish him the best!

 

— Devised Theatre Coordinator:

  • A new event at the 2012 region festival, the devised theatre coordinator will be the “go to” person for those folks wanting to bring a devised theatre piece to the festival. This person will also plan and coordinate the Devised Theatre “Festival.” More information (a prompt for this showcase) will be forthcoming.
  • Musical Theatre Audition Coordinator:
  • Another new event for the 2012 region festival, the musical theatre coordinator will plan and organize this special audition of two contrasting songs for students to participate in. This will be a one day or afternoon event and will be run much like the Ryan semi-final or final round. Again, more information about the event at festival will be forthcoming.
